Emerald City from “Eleven Views (from the West)”, ink and graphite on paper, 420mm x 297mm, 2024

A part of the “Eleven Views (from the West)” series, this work captures the chaotic nature underpinning our society. Inspired by The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, the work employs the same theme of superficial beauty that masks deception. Adopting a darker and more macabre tone than most other works, the artist highlights the violence prevalent in our society that is hidden by illusions of splendour.
